Oh, hello.

A little about my work.

After 15 years of working in communications, I departed the text and took a coding bootcamp. I'm now using my words a little differently to build things that help make the world a better place — or at least make it a little more fun.

When I'm not working or parenting, I enjoy throwing dinner parties, game nights with friends, birding and hiking — well, in Chicago they're more like long walks outside. And of course, dreaming about my happy place: the Box Car Hole (Links Course, #7) at Lawsonia.

Why we'll get along.

A peak into the qualities and skills I bring to the table.

  • Coding in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Ruby (so far!)
  • Mission-driven mindset. Let's change the world
  • Passion for learning and growth
  • Powered by coffee. Iced or hot, your call
  • Uncanny attention to detail
  • Energy and enthusasim to every project

Projects and work.

A few of past and ongoing projects that keep me busy.

BookSmart

Inspired by the discussion questions that can be found at the back of many books, I used Ruby on Rails and Vue.JS to create a place for book lovers who don't have the time, network or desire to join an in-person book club but crave quality discussions about the books they read. Explore the app or watch my capstone presentation for a demo.

Birding App

Currently exploring the eBird API, with the goal of creating an app that creates a list of likely birds someone will see at a given time at any location using historic data. Follow my progress on GitHub.

Interactive Authorizer Showcases

Upon reflection, this is probably the project that sparked my eventual career change. While I conceptualized the project, led its developement and execution, and wrote messaging and content, I found working with web developers and building things from scratch was super exciting. The more I tinkered in the background to get the project over the finish line, the more I wanted to learn.
